Life is a Gamble

A nationwide gambling ring, taking bets from about half dozen current players, sounds like Godfather from Canada to me. We all hope these accusations are not true. Richard ‘’Rick’’ Tocchet a four times NHL All-Star, assistant coach of the Coyote has being accused of Financing a nationwide sports gambling ring based in New Jersey that it may involve more people, I mean the people that we trust up there. ‘’ It is not a hockey-related issue, it’s a football thing’’. This statement according to the Godfather Rick the Tocchet. Are you feeling any better? On February 7 Rick Tocchet was granted an indefinite leave of absence by NHL commissioner Garry Bettman a day after being formerly accused. Tocchet was publicly implicated by New Jersey authority and he is expected to be arraigned within ten days. He is to cease all contact and communication will all NHL and team personnel and stay away for duration of his leave. These are the conditions to be met as the part of the agreement of his leave. Authorities also are exploring links between the gambling and Philadelphia-area mobsters. Hockey players are prohibited from making NHL wagers, legal or otherwise. But there are no rules that forbid hockey players from betting on other sports. May be this is not a big deal after all, is it?
