Any publicity is good publicity. The way Lance Armstrong’s puppy’s open-heart surgery bestowed him over-night status. Lance Armstrong's Labrador puppy Rex is convalescing from successful open-heart surgery at Colorado State University's veterinary hospital. His puppy was born with a defective heart valve that could have cost him his life due to a risk of heart failure. The surgery was performed by Chris Orton, the head of Colorado State University’s cardiac surgery team.
