OBEISANCE TO CLEMENTE’S No. 21

The reluctance Washington Nationals manager Frank Robinson to retire Roberto Clemente’s #21 is an obvious gesture. He genuinely acknowledges the late Hall of Famer's contributions and wants that his plaque no. should be retired in a more honorable way. The Hispanics Across America, an advocacy group, suggestion to set aside his number like Jackie Robinson's won’t be the right way since Clemente was a terrific ballplayer, and to compare his situation with Robinson’s won’t be a fair deal.

Clemente, who died at the age of 32 in 1972, died while doing something charitable should be honored in a different and significant way.
