The NBA has so many times accredited the lazy, sloppy, soft, selfish, defenseless, and useless players as good players. These so good players have always enjoyed the hype of being raked as the all-time greats. Some of them were real couch potatoes with mediocre career averages, but still became the Cooperstown Hall of Fame inductee. Walt Bellamy, Patrick Ewing, George Gervin, Connie Hawkins, Elvin Hayes, Karl Malone, Bob McAdoo, Pete Maravich, Gary Payton, David Robinson to name a few.

These overrated players were seldom appreciated for their physical fitness. Undoubtedly they were spectacular in their own ways but lacked the substance which could have given them a genuine publicity.
