BARTOLO COLON MASTER OF SHUTTING DOWN OPPONENTS

Colon had a solid outing on Thursday, which propelled him as the likely victor for the Cy Young. He had an incredible season. With this victory he became the Angels' winningest pitcher since Nolan Ryan in 1974, leading Los Angeles over the Oakland Athletics with the score of 7-1. For what he's done for this team, getting them into the playoffs and making them the top dog, he is certainly accredited as Cy Young of the team. Now Colon and Yankees reliever Mariano Rivera are in tight contention to win the coveted award. Both are viewed as the top contenders for the Cy Young.

Indeed the back up of the two powerful teams has also helped them to reach this milestone. Colon has given the Angels a huge lift. Colon has the most wins for the Angels since Ryan went 22-16 in 1974.
